Corn oil is an edible oil with a few therapeutic properties.
The most studied property of corn oil is its ability to lower LDL blood cholesterol when taken within limits. Corn oil is an effective component in lowering blood cholesterol levels. It contains about 60 percent polyunsaturated, 25 to 30 percent monounsaturated, and 10 to 15 percent saturated fats.
It is a moisturizer for the skin, reducing dryness and creating a protective barrier to lock in moisture. Emollients are commonly used in skincare products like lotions, creams, ointments, and balms to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, or itchy skin.
Corn oil provides essential fatty acids like linoleic acid ( omega – 6 ) which is required for some immune system functions. It is also a rich source of Linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is essential for growth and skin and hair quality.
Linoleic acid is required for the proper functioning of the kidneys, liver, heart, reproductive system, and digestive system.
Like olive oil, it reduces blood pressure post-consumption in hypertensive patients.
Corn oil contains Vitamin E which is an antioxidant that can keep you healthy.
